When guests enter a hotel lobby, the first thing they do is look around. If the floors are not clean and the furniture is dusty, the only thing you’re going to end up doing is leaving them with a lasting terrible first impression. First impressions are everything, especially in the hotel industry. If someone is left with a very bad first impression of a hotel you are guaranteed that they are going to spread the word, and although housekeepers do their best to keep hotel lobbies clean sometimes a lot of things still go unseen due to the lobby being a very busy place. Here are a few pointers to help with keeping a lobby clean,
Sweep and mop the floor on a regular basis – if your lobby is the type that has a mixture of carpet and hard floor then you have a lot more work on your hands. You have to vacuum and at the same time you also have to dust mop the hard floors. When dusting the hard floors the quickest and best approach to keeping them dust-free is to use flat microfiber mops. Get one here. There really is no other tool that can get the job done better and quicker. In fact, microfiber flat mops are actually able to pick up dust that the vacuum cleaners usually miss.
When it comes time to vacuum the carpets, care must be taken to do them properly. You should vacuum your carpets at least twice a day. Do not forget that the lobby is a very public place and there are usually going to be quite a few accidents happening. For example, people smoke in the lobby. You might have children that have accidents on the floor. You might have pets that have accidents on the floor. There are so many different things that can happen on a carpet in a hotel lobby which is what you need to look out for. Bad smells can quickly take over an entire hotel lobby simply because of a dirty carpet. Make sure you keep up with the vacuuming. If there are stains make sure you clean them out, thats where bad smells come from.
Another hotspot for a dirty lobby is the furniture. You have to keep a very close eye on the furniture because a lot of people sit on them and dirty them. If someone has a drink they are bound to spill it on the furniture. Always feel the furniture for wet spots because you will usually always never see wet spots and miss them.
